1) FAITH HAS TO BE TESTED!
Genesis 22:1–3 (NIV):
22 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” 3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey.
James 1:2 Count it all JOY when you come into various tests and trials!
James 1:22–24 (NIV):
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
1 Peter 1:7
so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
IN FACT SOMETIMES GOD EVEN GIVES BLESSINGS AS A TEST TO SEE WHAT WE DO WITH IT.
Exodus 16:4
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
APPLICATION: WHAT IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW IS A FAITH TEST?
2) FAITH GROWS BECAUSE YOU EXERCISE IT
James 2:17 (NIV): In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
James 2:20 (NIV): 20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless
James 2:26 (NIV): As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Galatians 5:6 (NIV): For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
FAITH IS ALWAYS IN ACTION …. IT’S ACTIVE
NO ACTION = NO FAITH
FAITH IS FOLLOWED BY ACTION
FAITH IS ALWAYS WRAPPED IN LOVE
